Laird/Redd marriages

The Laird's (Lard, Lord) settled in the Orangeburg district along the Edisto River at about the same time the Redd's settled. It appears that they came to Mississippi at about the same time, too. We know that the Laird's and Redd's married and settled in the Johnson Grove township outside Brookhaven, MS. There is a Laird/Redd cemetary, where some of my husband's family is buried. I'm looking for records on possible marriages between the Lairds and Redds prior to 1800 in South Carolina. In particular, could one of the Redd daughters of John or Joseph have married Josiah Laird, Sr.? (I'm looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack). Josiah appears to have come to Mississippi sometime after 1800 but before 1810. We can't find whom he married or who his father was. It occurred to me today that maybe there is a connection and that's why the Redds and Lairds share a cemetary.
