Charlotte, I would bet the Feb. 16, 1815 marriage is forRachel Stevenson, as you suggest. The date is right for the children's ages in the later guardianship records. Also, Squire Carson performed other Redd marriages and must have lived in the neighborhood.
Do you know the father of Joseph Everly?I have always assumed it was Leonard Everly.I transcribed the following estate record when I was in Washington Co. a year ago:
Wash. Co, PA Orphans Court Record Book D. p.156, Mar. term 1834, # 37
"Leonard Everly, Fallowfield Twp, Children: Peter; Leonard;Catherine,w/o James Kuykendall; Mary, w/o Andrew Redd (their ch: James, Adam, Elizabeth and Sally); Joseph, dec'd (his ch: Louisa Ann, Maria, Sarah -- these three of Ohio; Joseph and Leonard of Vermillian Co, Indiana; Elizabeth; Susan, w/o Samuel Lesher, Wills Co, Ill.) Jacob; Elizabeth, w/o Jacob Ihrig; Ann, w/o James Parsons; Barbara, w/o Henry Smith; and Sarah, w/o Stephen Luce."
The locations of the children of Joseph Everly kind of mesh with the places you mention.I'll spin a theory here ---- Rachel Stephenson Everly found that she was unable to care for her children after the death of Joseph Everly. It took her 3 years before she gave up (1829-1833.A relative of her first husband, Nathaniel Ted Stevenson, agreed to take them as guardian. He parceled them out to 3 relatives or acquaintances (a nice way of saying he sold them as apprentices?) who took them to 1)Vermillion Co, IN2)Will Co., IL and 3)three of them stayed in Ohio.Rachel herself, went to Cass Co, IN with her widowed sister-in-law, Mary Redd (widow of Joseph Redd)who had been living in the same community in Wayne Co, OH)Rachel lived for a while in the Mary Redd household until she married this Basey guy.Well, that's my theory ----
There are a couple of serious problems with this picture, though: 1)Susan in the Leonard Everly estate record was w/o Lesher in 1834.Your Susanna in guardian record was b. abt. 1826.Can't be the same person.2) You say Joseph Everly had a brother, Adam.No Adam among the children of Leonard Everly.
Maybe Leonard isn't the father at all, but those three locations sure do match up nicely. You've got Joseph's death date nailed down pretty solid with the coffin receipt!
