I was so shocked to hear of Ernie passing. We have been in contact for about 10 years now. Although I never meet him personaly we have talked over the internet and phone namy times. We were related through his Redd line.

Ernest Edward Alf of Boerne passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at the age of 75. He was born March 18, 1934. in Manhattan, N.Y., to Ernest Henry and Audra Marie Alf.
In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Tokyo, Japan. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Ernie married Charlene Traeger on June 17, 1957. He was a 1959 graduate of Texas Lutheran College and worked for many years in the insurance industry. He and Charlene have been residents of Boerne since 1972.
In recent years Ernie volunteered at the public library, and served as the president of the Pleasant Valley Community Association. He worked as a crew leader and field operations supervisor in the 2000 Census.
An avid genealogist, Ernie communicated with friends and relatives around the globe. He was affectionately known to his numerous e-mail correspondents as "Ernie from Boerne."
Ernie is survived by Charlene, his wife of 52 years, and their four children: Karl and Jaton Alf of Stafford, Marie and Paul Tehas of Boerne, Jan and Ben Kempf of Denver, Colo., and Kenny and Sheri Alf of Tarpley. He leaves behind 13 well-loved grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 30, from 6 till 8 p.m. at Vaughan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, at 10 a.m. at the Boerne Bible Church.
