Brian,
Regarding the name Redington or Reddington in Ireland, I posted some information on its origins under "Irish Redingtons" on 6/14/01. There is also a book written in the 17th or 18th century by Antoine O Dalaigh (I think) that my father told me that his father told him that contained more details on the origins of the O Roideachain clann.
From what I've seen on this site, there were also Red(d)ingtons in Mayo and Roscommon, some of whom may still be in Ireland. The Dunmore/Tuam area is near the Mayo and Roscommon county boundaries so there may have been Reington extensions intot these counties - then again, they may also be separate lines of the name.
The Woodford area of County Galway is a good distance from Dunmore but this may be the origin of Reddingtons now living around Portumna and Athlone (which is in both Cos. Westmeath and Roscommon.
By the way, I'm a different John Redington. I was born in 1955 and I live in Limerick in Ireland.
