Reddingtons in Ireland up to 1840's
My branch of the Reddington family originated in Ireland - probably in the Roscommon and Mayo areas - and emigrated to England (and presumably other places) around the time of the potato famine in the 1840's. My ancestors settled in Leeds (Yorkshire) and I have amassed much information about each subsequent generation. Working backwards to research the family's history in Ireland however has been more of a problem.
My g-g-grandfather was John Reddington (b 1866 in Leeds). His father, who emigrated from Ireland, was also called John Reddington (b 1839) That John Reddington had married Mary Fergusson (b 1841). His father was William Reddington (presumably born some time pre 1818).
A James Reddington (b 1815/17ish and married to a Mary) emigrated to England and settled in Leeds at about the same time. He definitely originated in County Roscommon.
Any information about Reddingtons in these parts of Ireland pre 1850 would be much appreciated in exchange for info post emigtation to England.
Happy New Year!
