Redmann-Rodney Civil War connection
Posted by: Kirk Redmann Date: October 30, 2001 at 06:44:37

Capt. Joseph Vincent Redmann was my great grandfather, born (mid 1800's) in Bayou Sara, LA now part of St. Francisville. He and his brother left home (12 yrs?) after some epidemic that wiped out the entire family. They traveled with mariners down river to New Orleans. His brother (name unknown) assumed a dead comrade's name to obtain early release from a prisoner camp during the Civil War. The name was Rodney, and he went up to Indiana.
