From the research I have done over the last 3 years, Kentuckians did a lot of remarrying in the 1800's.I am looking for parental verification on my great grandfather Charles Asa Reffitt, b. 15 Jan 1891 d. Jan 1965.On his application for SS# he listed his parents as George Reffitt and Loucinda McRoberts.A later census in Powell County shows Loucinda remarried to a James McRoberts living in the home with them is Charles, 10 years old with his brother James and two sisters Nannie and Eliza Jane. That must be where Charles came up with the McRoberts name as family states her maiden name as being Lairson.Back to the SS application, he states his county of birth as Menifee. We have one of Charles' ex-wives still living in Ohio who states that Charles had a brother named George.Nannie married a Ballard.I'm thinking Charles' father George had another wife prior to Loucinda and that is where the brother George comes from.Any clues or connections to this family?
