John Reich
I'm looking for information on a John Reich who was assistant engraver at the U.S. mint from 1807-1817. He was an indentured servant (from Germany) and was only paid a meager salary while employed at the mint. A very talented engraver he was responsible for one of the most beautiful designs on U.S. coinage.
He was old when working at the mint so I would imagine he was born abt. 1750ish plus or minus 10 years. Supposedly after he terminated his employment in 1817 he disapeared.
Anyone having any information on this line please post or write me an e-mail, would dearly love to find out what happened to this man and family if any. Thanks!
