It's me, the bearer of scandalous genealogy info.Just kidding.I am the one that sent info to your father way back when.
I was writing him from what I remember in hopes that he would have more information to add to the family tree. The story about Tillie Husbands was told to me by my motherand also others in the family.Everything was just hearsay I guess but she came over with Aunt Augusta when she was 9 years old.I believe she went by the name of Tillie Reichenberg, which of course was Augusta's maiden name.Later in America Augusta married a Clifton and was married a 2nd time either before Clifton or after, I can't remember which as there are papers in the county courthouse attesting to that fact. But Tillie was always Reichenberg until she married Husbands. This is the story that was always told to my mother by her mother, Rosa Kamien.Of course it was not talked about a lot as they did not talk about those things in those days, but Rosa did say that it was true, but the question of who the father was was never answered. Some said it was a rabbi, others said a Nazi soldier.I guess that we will never know.I hope I did not hurt any feelings by telling this to your family.I certainly didn't intend to, but felt that everyone would want to know the truth. One of the relatives did get a little upset on hearing this news, but I am truly sorry to have upset her as that was not the intent.I know if it were my immediate family I would want to know as much as is known.I would like to correspond with you and maybe if we can put our heads together wwe can come up with some more info.I have not worked on the genealogy in many years but keep saying I want to start up again.I quit about 9 years ago after I was diagnosed with breast cancer.Do you know that breast cancer runs in this side of the family? My great-grandmother Rachel Reichenberg died of it in the late 1800s and there have been numerous family members on this side that have had it also. The survivor in our famly that brings hope to me everyday by her long life, is Emma Seelbinder Smith,
daugther of Sophie Reichenberg. She had breast cancer the first time in 1928 and then had it a second time, but the glory of it all if that besides being lucky enough to live to the ripe old age of 106, she is a 73 year breast cancer survivor.A story of hope if I have ever heard one.Looking forward to hearing from you soon I hope.Email me at [email protected].
Your cousin,
Janie
