My gggrandfather was Nicholas Reifers, dob 7/18/19, born in Trier, Rhineland, Germany. He and his wife, Susanne Hengen Reifers, dob 1825, born in Trier, Germany, came to NY on 6/14/1854 from Antwerp on "Sea Eagle." They settled in LaFayette, (Tippecanoe Co.)IN and moved to Blair, NE in 1868 or 1869. Nicholas' naturalization declaration was filed 10/9/1855 in Tippecanoe Circuit Court.

Nicholas and Susanne could have come to join Susanne's brothers, Joseph Herman Hengen and Peter Joseph Hengen who had arrived from Germany on 4/28/1852. I don't know if other Reifers were in IN at the time also.

I believe we have discussed this in the past and have determined that we are not related unless Nicholas (my gggrandfather) could have been a descendant of Christoffel's second wife, Elizabeth Hiniezskill; however, I have been unable to obtain sufficient information.

Any information concerning this line of Reifers would be appreciated.
