Mildred (Reinhardt) Speltz
April 07, 2003


Mildred (Reinhardt) Speltz, 90, lifelong resident of the Boyne City area, passed away April 4, 2003, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan.

Mass of Christian Burial was held today, Monday, April 7, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Boyne City. The Rev. Francis Partridge officiated. Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Boyne City.

Mildred was born Sept. 20, 1912, at Deer Lake, Boyne Valley Township, Charlevoix County, the eighth of 10 children born to Fred (Anna Seiler) Reinhardt. She grew up in Northern Michigan and attended and graduated from Boyne Falls Public Schools in 1930.

On Sept. 17, 1938, she married Theodor Speltz in Boyne City and he preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 1973.

Mildred was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church.

She is survived by one son, Raymond (Irene) Speltz, of Boyne City; one daughter, Lucille Sawinski, of Rockford, Mich.; one sister, Helen (Harold) Howard, of Boyne City; six grandchildren, Jeffery Sawinski of Grand Rapids, Gail (Jeffery) Crapsey of Cedar Springs, David (Mary) Sawinski of Rockford, Karen Sawinski of Grand Rapids, Matthew (Peg) Speltz of Boyne City, MariBeth (Chris) Emory of Gaylord; 10 great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Katherine Sawinski, Andrea, Aaron and Olivia Crapsey, John and Steven Cressman, Adam and Amanda Speltz and Anthony Emory; sisters-in-law, Hilda (Clarence) and Rose (Earl) Reinhardt; Theodor's sister, Catherine Cook; brother-in-law, Arden Westover; and several nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by five brothers, Carl (Doris), Otto (Pearl), Ernest (Nina), Earl and Clarence; and three sisters, Emma (Leonard) McGeorge, Ada (Gus) Ness and Edna (Cecil) Locke; sisters-in-law, Marguerite (Joe) Ciminskie and Ann Westover.

Visitation and a rosary was held Sunday at Stackus Funeral Home, Boyne City.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew Building Fund or Grandvue Medical Care Facility. Envelopes will be available at Stackus Funeral Home.
