Daniel L. Reinhart (1956-2010) GER, PA and Colorado
Daniel L. Reinhart, age 54, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1989 and formerly of Gladwyne, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at a local care center as a result of an automobile accident he had sustained nearly 21 years ago. He was a Senior Navigator with the United States Air Force and an engineer with UNISYS Corporation. Daniel Lee Reinhart was born on July 21, 1956 in Bayerfield, Germany to William and Eleonore (Bayer) Reinhart. He was a 1974 graduate of Harriton High School in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, and was a 1980 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. He received his Masters degree in Software Engineering in 1987 from National University, San Diego, California. Dan was a sports enthusiast, playing varsity soccer, racquetball, and handball while attending the Academy, and loved long-distance running, participating in many marathons and events. In addition to athletics, he enjoyed leisurely activities such as reading science fiction novels, watching Clint Eastwood movies, studying astronomy, and honing his woodworking skills. Most of all, Dan will be remembered for his kind and compassionate nature and his love for family, friends, and life. He is survived by his mother, Eleonore Reinhart and stepfather Earnest Morris of Peyton, Colorado; two brothers: Harold “Rusty” (wife, Elizabeth) Reinhart of Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania; and Gary (wife, Amy) Reinhart of Merritt Island, Florida. He is also survived by his former wife, Suzanne Reinhart of Colorado Springs, who remained by his side from the day of the accident to his passing, his former in-laws William and Akiko Stice, sister-in-law Liz (Bill) Lancaster, and brother-in-law Wayne (Wendy) Stice. In addition, he is survived by a niece and several nephews, children he never got to know, but will grow up knowing their Uncle Dan was a wonderful man and how proud he would have been of them. Dan was preceded in death by his father in 2004 and his grandparents, William and Helen Reinhart, and Franz and Gertrude Bayer. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Community Center Chapel at the United States Air Force Academy. Burial with military honors will follow at the USAFA Cemetery. Memorials in Dan's name may be made to the Brain Injury Association of America, 1608 Spring Hill Road Suite 110, Vienna, Virginia 22182.
