Dear Ed,

Generally speaking, Jacob and Jacobus were two distinct names among the Dutch families. Not always, but usually. Also, Jacobus was frequently anglicized to James. Jacob usually remained Jacob.

Incidentally, it was very nice of you to find a descendant's home for the old Riker's.
