Alfred H. MONROE/MUNROE, b. abt. 7 Jun 1815, Providence, RI., d. 18 Jan 1883, Jamaica, NY. m. Rachael Ann Leeds REMSEN, 21 Jan 1840 prob. Jamaica, NY. Ch. Permelia C., 1841(?) (m. William HOWARD); Leander Emmert, 1843 (CW vet); Nathaniel, 1845; Charles Henry, 1845 (CW vet); Alice Amanda, 1849 (m. Nathaniel DAVIS); James Allen, 1853,(aka Allyn)(m. Gertrude WRIGHT); Alfred Agustus, 1856 (m. Clara Rogers); George Sammis, 1850 (m. Aletta Ann REMSEN). Alfred was a farmer and waterman in Queens Co. NY. and known as "Capt. Monroe." Obit. of son James claims ancestry to Ebenezer Munroe who "fired the first shot of the Revolutionary War." Request any information this family.
