According to Alfred Hunt Remsen, the parents of John Remsen, father of Corenlia Remsen Van Siclen, were Derick (Richard) Remsen & Elizabeth Duryea.
Alfred Hunt Remsen also shows that Richard Remsen (6) & Jane Duryea had 5 children, Elizabeth Jane (7) being only daughter, bpt. 10-16-1812, marrying John Van Sicklen at Jamaica Dutch Reformed Church. Her being another child of Richard & Jane is supported by the wills of Richard (6) who names his daughter Jane as wife of John Van Sicklen and appoints his son-in-law John Van Sicklen as an executor (Queens Co. Will Liber 6, p.478, 3-15-1852, with a codicil dated 3-16-1852). This will was contested by John Van Sicklen on behalf of his wife Elizabeth Jane, daughter of the deceased, and Abraham D. Remsen, son of the deceased. Although contested, the will was allowed for probate 7-16-1855. The will of Jane Remsen, widow of Richard, provides a new rocking chair, wearing apparel and $300 to "my daughter, Elizabeth Jane, wife of John Van Sicklen." This is in Queens Co. Will Liber 7, p.298, dated 8-2-1853 and proved 9-22-1856.
