RENFREW/PHILIPS in Renfrew, SCT 1780s

Margaret RENFREW married James PHILIPS in the lower church of Paisley Abbey, Renfrew, Scotland in 1785. A son John PHILIPS was born and christened in the lower church in 1787. Familysearch.org shows civil records existing for these two occurances. Around 1790, this PHILIPS family immigrated to the US and by 1811 settled in Trumbull Co, OH.

It is said Margaret came from high ranking family who were not happy with her marriage.

Am interested in determining families of Margaret RENFREW and James PHILIPS (PHILLIPS).

They are my gggggparents.

Bill Boyle
