Since you last posted your information regarding Phoebe Renick moving to Barren County, with Samuel Renick, I have found out a little about this man. He was the son of William and Mary (Dugan?) Renick and was born 6 November 1739. I found some information on Samuel in a sketch done on his grandson, Strother Renick, son of William Renick and Elizabeth Renick. (William and Elizabeth were first consins and Elizabeth was Samuel's daughter. Her husband, William, was the son of Samuel's brother, William). Both Samuel and his brother William lived in Maryland where, if not all, at least many, of their children were born. Samuel moved from Maryland to Virginia, where you found him, on the tax records, in 1781 and 1784. April 8, 1796, Samuel and Nancy Ann Renick's son, Robert, was killed in Barren County, Kentucky. (I think he was unmarried & had no family.) Immediately, they sold their properties, in Virginia, closing on them June 1, 1796 and headed to Barren County, Kentucky. Your Phoebe Renick evidently went with them to Barren County, when they moved. Of course, there were many Renicks living, that area of Virginia, at the time. Many of them came down through the line of Robert Renick killed by the Shawnee, July 25, 1757. This Robert was the brother of William, father of Samuel. William and Robert's brother Thomas had descendants living in Hardy County, Virginia. There was a Phoebe Renick, daughter of Robert Renick, son of Robert killed by the Shawnee. However, this Phoebe supposidly was not born until about 1798. If I were you I would start searching for a Phoebe/Rachel Renick born in Virginia to another Renick. I found a couple who were born about the right time, but they all were said to have married other men. If and when you have your questioned answered regarding Phoebe I would love to learn of you find.
