Dear Jacky,
Here is my Renouf connection. John Peter Ogier married Judith Renouf, daughter of Thomas Renouf, on 27 March 1823, according to the Vale church register. In 1841 at Piece des Capelle John was a 40 year old journeyman with a 45 year old wife named Judith. By 1851 John was a widower. John and his children decided to emigrate to Australia. Nicholas arrived in 1852 and Lucy 'by 1853'. John, the father, and Henry, the youngest child, came in 1854.This is all documented evidence. Imagine my surprise when I read Lucy's marriage certificate of 1856 and found her mother to be Sophia Reynold! Perhaps John married a second wife or took up with Sophia after becoming a widower? The puzzles of genealogy. I would like to contribute information to any book on Guernsey emigrants.
