Hi Rob, Thank you for your response. I am still trying to establish which of my many Nicolas Renouf's the one in Philidelphia might be.
My Renouf family came from Guernsey, St Andrews parish in the main but some in St Peter Poret and St Sampsons. Most of them were Methodists/ Wesleyans.Could you tell me your ancestors surname and parish of origin as this may help to eliminate some Nicolas's . Was your ancestor a butcher or a taillor. I believe Nicolas was the latter
