Hi Suzanne, I'm not sure if this is the same Nicolas.I do know of the Nicolas from St Martins as I have communicated with Charlotte about him and I do believe his family line was linked to my St Andrews Nicolas Renouf's at some point. However I will give you what I have so far discovered about Nicolas's in Phil. and you can tell me if they are one and the same. I have info. from a source in Phildelphia about a Nicolas Renouf aged between 26-40 who was found in the Fourth Ward in 1820 along with a wife in the same age group and one son under 10 and another 16-26 as well as 2 daughters 10-16 -and one under 10. In 1850 in the 5th ward there is another Nicolas aged 25 shoemaker born in Penn [ but could have been naturalized there in Nov 6th 1848] He may/ may not have been son of one below. Also in Spring Gardens 1850 was a Nicolas aged 69 tailor and wife Jane aged 70 Who I have assumed were the ones there in 1820. Of course that could be erroneous. The tailor died in Feb 1857 aged 76. The family lived around Elizabeth / Poplar and Randolph st Phil. Jane d April 1870. One of their children m a Samuel Gilbert another m a William Hilton. In 1870 there was mention also of a Joshua Renouf who was a carpenter and had wife Maria. The other inf. I've had said there was a Nicolas Renhuff, a kind of Quaker who provided hospitality to new emigrants from Guernsey around 1817. So I am trying to establish who these different Nicolas Renouf's were. Would appreciate any help. Regards Jacky Notify Administrator about this message?
