Janet, I do not know the history of the Jersey Renoufs but I have a colleague who does. If you would like me to pass you on to her contact me direct [after Christmas as I am going away tomorrow] at renouf.calder@paradise.net.nz I was interested in the Renouf origins and had my Dads DNA tested for the National Geographic Genome project. It showed that his ancestors were amongst the earliest Europeans [ Cro Magnin } who migrated through Poland and Germany and settled along the west coast of France. They were not as I had wondered of Scandinavian /Finish origins ie not part of the Norman incursion into Normandy! There is another suggestion that the name was Raginwulf from the Germanic wolf consul or adviser. This September I found two tiny hamlets on the Cotentin Peninsula of Normandy with the Renouf name. They migrated from Normandy to both Jersey and Guernsey before 1300. Cheers Jacky in NZ Notify Administrator about this message?
