I do not know the history of the Jersey Renoufs but I have a colleague who does. If you would like me to pass you on to her contact me direct [after Christmas as I am going away tomorrow] at email@example.com
I was interested in the Renouf origins and had my Dads DNA tested for the National Geographic Genome project. It showed that his ancestors were amongst the earliest Europeans [ Cro Magnin } who migrated through Poland and Germany and settled along the west coast of France. They were not as I had wondered of Scandinavian /Finish origins ie not part of the Norman incursion into Normandy!
There is another suggestion that the name was Raginwulf from the Germanic wolf consul or adviser.
This September I found two tiny hamlets on the Cotentin Peninsula of Normandy with the Renouf name. They migrated from Normandy to both Jersey and Guernsey before 1300.
Cheers Jacky in NZ
