In a book I have the spelling of Renouf is varied: Renouf,Renoff,Renew,Renuff,Reneuf,Renough,Reneff,Renno,Reno?, Renow,Reneauf also possibly: Renault--pronounced much like Reno,Renow. These are listed as Channel Is. names. This is on page 535-6 of the book: The Quiet Adventurers in North America by Turk....by Harlo Press,Detroit,MI 1983 Also on page 88: "Bailey, William, age 35 of Hamilton, ONT, b. Guernsey, mar 1864 in Hamilton, C. of E.,Mary Devaney....Wiliam was son of Nicholas and Rachel Bailey of Guernsey. "Bailly, Le Bailly - shield of Jersey - Azure,a Fortress argent, maconee sable. Then there are several variations of: Bailhache, Ballyhack,Bailhache,Balhachet...some ship builders in Gloucester,MA in 1600's There are also variations such as : Balleine - I did not find any Bayley listed - but that does not mean there are not family by that name on Island of Jersey in 1884.... Hope this helps - as travel between the Channel Islands and England and America was brisk! Jean
