Dear Marianne,

Thanks for the information. I am trying to keep track of all these Resslers. I do know a little about Jacob Ressler's ancestor, who was my great-great-great grandfather. Jacob Ressler is the son of Jacob Ressler (1817-1890) and Sarah Helsel (1817-@1890). I am descended from Daniel Ressler (1839-1927) who was your ancester Jacob's older brother.
It seems that the elder Jacob Ressler was born in Virginia and moved to Pennsylvania, Indiana County and lived the rest of his life there. He died on January 21, 1890 at East Wheatfield Township, Indiana Co. Pa.
I am not sure about the exact time and place of his wife Sarah's demise. She was from Bedford County, Pa. Their children were Daniel Ressler (1839-1927); John Ressler (1841-1892); Jacob Ressler (your ancestor); David Ressler (1844-1890; Jane Ressler (1847-?--she married John Aungst, Mary Jane's older brother); Henry Ressler (1853-1902); Sarah Ressler (1853-?); James Norton Ressler 91855-1935); and Elias Ressler (1858-1911).
Most of these people lived and died in East Wheatfield Township, Indiana County, PA.
If you are interested in looking at an informative website about this branch of the family line, go to and scroll down the page until you see the Ressler link.
Hope this helps.
James Ressler (ps. I am interested in any information that you might share.)
