I have hear of an Annie Rhone who I think lives or lived in Ellesmere. I will get back to you on that one. My father was Harold Rhone 1922 - 1989, my Grandfather was Alec 1898 - 1961 and Great Grandfather James 1864 - 1940. I have a marriage certificate from 1861 in the parish of Ellesmere for Wiliam Rhone m Elizabeth Tomkins. Father is shown as Thomas Rhone with a Mathew Rhone as a witness. William's place of residence is shown as Northwood which is a village close by Ellesmere. I have not so far established if William is James' father or if this is another branch of the family. My family seem to have been located in the North Shropshire area for some years and I believe there is a Rhone buried in Hanmer churchyard dating back to the mid 1700s. Oswestry is north Shropshire on the Welsh border. My father and Grandfather lived in the village of Erbistock, just over the border in Wales. This is where I live myself having returned a few years ago. The name Rhone is not at all common in the UK. Other Do you know your Grandfathers name as that would help identify any relationship.
