Rhymes Family of Jackson, MS
Greetings to all.Perhaps you all may be able to help me.I come from a Rhymes family from Jackson, MS.My father's name is John Rhymes (don't know middlename).I don't know the names of his parents, but I do know that he had 2 sisters, Jessie and Charlene. and I think 2 brothers, Ephraim and Sephraim. He also had an aunt by the name of Annie Griffin. Most of the siblings migrated to Chicago, however, my father who died in 1975 lies in the Veterans Cemetary in Jackson.
I am African-American and had heard stories of my Great-grandfather coming to America by ship from England.Somehow and at some point settled in MS.I would assume he owned slaves as I was told that my father's father was born from such relationship.
I know that there is a large group of my father's cousins living in Jackson, MS today.I'm told they are well to do.Teachers, doctors etc.A great way to carry on the family name.
Does anyone have any ideas how I may fit into the Rhymes lineage.
