Nedra,
I forgot to mention that the land patent date for section 1 was 1826, while the date for section 2 was 1840. He also owned quite a bit of land directly north in Hinds County, in sections 35 and 36 in Township 3N Range 2W. The earliest patent date there is for the east half of the southwest quarter of section 36, 1824, then the west half of the southwest quarter of section 36, 1826. The other parcels in sections 35 and 36 were patented by Little John, sons Jesse Jarrett (my ancestor)and George W in 1840. This land all seems to be along Haley Road, which branches off Midway Road after it branches off Rhymes Road. Just east of section 36 is section 31 of Township 3N Range 1W. Almost three quarters of this section belonged to Zaccheus Aills, who might have built the historic house on Rhymes Road that you mentioned.
