Finding many black WEEDEN/WEEDON of the 1700s, who were free.
Is anyone researching this surname?
My own research is of WEELDON/WHILDON/WELDON, and I am hoping that there is a connection.
My ggrandfather, WILLIAM LAWRENCE WEELDON, is listed as born in 1829 SC, but family lore says that WE were FPOC coming from England as indentured servants w/kin in VA.
Hope to hear from anyone who is dedicated to the research and to learn of ancesters in NE US.
