I've been working on tracing my mother's side for a while, and I know it's time to start working on my father's side. Here's the problem: simply starting it has been a nightmare, to say the least. I'm young for this kind of research I've discovered (I'm only 25, whereas most genealogists I meet are my parents age, at least). My father died when I was in early high school and his parents died around the time I finished high school. Nobody on my father's side seemed to be very close and I don't really know who to turn to for info. And, to add to my dilemma, I went to college on the west coast, so when my grandparents died any papers that were left in their house seem to have been thrown away. So, I'm hoping to find out ANYTHING anyone might know about my father's family - even an old neighbor to whom the name rings a bell would be a huge starting point. Here's what I can tell you: My father's name was Robert J KEELEY b. 8 Sept 1956 d. 22 Sept 1999 in West Warwick, RI. He has an older brother named Richard who I know was in the military (possibly Vietnam) and currently lives in Japan. He also has a sister named Patti and a sister named Dianne. My grandfather was Alfred J KEELEY b. 15 Nov 1926 d. 6 Mar 2001. He is buried in the Veteran's Cemetery in Exeter, but I didn't know he was a veteran of any war until after his death (apparently WWII?). According to his obituary (I don't know who wrote it, though) he was a supervisor at Quonset until the 1970's and he was an "honorary deputy sheriff" with the Kent County Sheriff's Association. His parents, also according to his obituary, were James E. KEELEY and Josephine E. PIGEON. According to the 1930 census, he also appeared to have a brother named Leo and a book I found among my father's things seems to indicate that Leo died in WWII. My grandmother was Rita MOREAU b. 12 July 1927 d. 18 Dec 2002. She died of Alzheimer's disease, and I don't ever remember her not suffering from it's effects. However I was told that she was a very bright woman - I seem to remember being told that she was a legal secretary of some sort. Her obituary lists her parents as Camille MOREAU and Roseanna FREDETTE. That's about all I've got. If anyone knows any more about any of these folks, either because you've come across them in your own research or just because you happen to remember one of them, I'd appreciate any help. Thanks, Cyndi Keeley Notify Administrator about this message?
