Thank you so much for looking. You found the right one on the census, I guess he's just not in the city directory. I have narrowed down the time line a bit since my posting. He is in Providence from 1898-1904. Nelson is a colored man and, given the time period, that may be a contributing factor to his absence from the directories. His sister Drusilla (Rosilla) marries a man by the name of Ford Clark while they are in Providence. Ford and Rosilla follow Nelson to Bangor, but at a later date.
