Does anyone know anything about Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Cranston? It appears in the list of cemeteries in the RI Historical Cemeteries Database project, but I have not found any inscriptions in the Master names index that refer to CR023. The actual database at one of the libraries shows the cemetery in the database, but no entries for CR023 when one browses Cranston inscriptions. The actual cemetery entry in the database shows "N" under "Cemetery still exists", but looking at the location on one of these satellite map sites it sure looks like there's still a cemetery at the location described in the database. I'm looking for cemeteries where some ancestors might be buried, whom we have not been able to find in the RI index. They were Swedish immigrants living in/near the Auburn section of Cranston. Some of the family members were members of St Paul's Lutheran church down in Warwick, and many relatives of the people we're looking for are buried in that cemetery. We expected everyone to be there, but they don't appear to be, so we're trying to figure out if there are other Swedish/Lutheran cemeteries they might be in, that are not in the RI database. So although Bethany Lutheran cemetery itself is in the RI database, the question is whether any inscriptions from that cemetery are in the index? In case anyone has more information than I'm able to get out of this index, the people we're looking for are: Carolina Anderson b 27 Sept 1855 Torpa, Älvsborg, Sweden ----died 02 Sep 1893 in Auburn, RI according to an entry in St Paul's church old record book (no death record found). Parents name was Rydberg; many of them buried in St Paul's cemetery. Törne Anderson (Carolina's father-in-law); b 10 Jul 1833 Ugglum, Skaraborg, Sweden ----died 03 Jan 1893 in Auburn, RI according to an entry in St Paul's church old record book (no death record found). "Enegren" may also be part of his name (from Sweden). John Solgren, (Carolina's brother-in-law); b 6 Feb Hallstad, Älvsborg, Sweden. Died between 1900 and 1910. Was on Greenwood St in 1900 census; widow and daughter in 1910 census so presume he also died in RI, although no death records found. Greta Anderson (Torne's wife), b 15 Aug 1830 Broddetorp, Skaraborg, Sweden. No clues yet when she died; she did immigrate with her husband and daughter (John Solgren's wife). Maiden name in Sweden was Johansdotter (so maybe Johnson in US). The only one we have located is Carolina's husband (son of Torne and Greta), Anders Gustaf Anderson, who is buried in West Warwick. He died 11 May 1913, and is in the RI cemeteries index. His appears to be a solitary grave, not part of any family plot. Thanks for any help, Ron Notify Administrator about this message?
