Waterman Field, b. abt. 1794, removed from Cranston, Providence Co., RI to Onondaga Co., NY about 1830. He d. there 1868. George W. Field, b. abt. 1824, removed from Johnston, Providence Co., RI to Onondaga Co., NY between 1865 and 1870. I believe Waterman and George were father and son. Does anyone have any evidence for this?
If this is correct, George’s time line would be as follows: b. RI abt. 1824 and went, as a child, with his family to Onondaga Co., returning to RI abt. 1845, married and raised a family. He returned to Onondaga Co. and was residing there in 1870. He is perhaps the George Field buried in South Onondaga Cemetery in 1871, aged 47.
Of course I have additional questions. Waterman’s wife was Betsey Fenner (1801-1875). (Many Fenners in Onondaga) What was her ancestry? What happened to George’s wife, Mary Brown, (d/o Nathan Jr. and Amey (___) Brown) after his death? Did she return to RI?
