Researching Michael H. Scanlon, M.D. family of Westerly, Rhode Island. He was the medical examiner in 1915. They lived at 45 High St. until ca 1926 and 88 High St., Westerly, RI from 1928 until at least 1948. He was b. 1876 in Middletown, Middlesex, CT. His wife, Mary A. Coughlin was b. 1876, Lebanon, CT. They m. in Lebanon/Norwich on 1 Oct 1902. They had children: Mary M. b. 1904; Ruth E., b.1906 ; Anna L., b. 1910; Grace, b. 1912; Eleanor, b. 1914; John H., b. 1916. All the ch. were b. in Westerly, RI. They are listed in the 1910, 1920 and 1930 Westerly, RI censuses as well as the city directory over the years. The house at 88 High St. was very near Wilcox Park, a 14 acre Victorian garden in Westerly. In 1930, Ruth and Anna L. are living at home with their parents. In Jan. 1937, Eleanor is on a ship's passenger list with her mother returning from Bermuda to New York. Mary C. Scanlon was the daughter of John Coughlin and Kate Collins of Lebanon, CT. Ruth E. Scanlon may be the Ruth listed in the SS Death Index @ Ancestry.com as b. 20 May 1905, d. Aug 1991 in Meriden, New Haven, CT, though a Ruth E. Scanlon is listed in 1994 Westerly Directory as living at 4 Granite St., 5, Westerly. Any information about the family appreciated.
