I should mention that my RIAL branch of the NJ RIALs changed to Riel in Ohio. Isaac Rial moved to Belmont Co, Ohio ca 1820, By 1830, they were in Lawrence Co, Ohio. His son Isaac, got tired of receiving his father's revolutionary war pension check, so he changed his name to Isaac Riel. (At least this is the story that my mother told me) Another part of the story goes that it was back to the original spelling--who knows. In both England and Scotland it is spelled both ways in the same town. So if you are hunting RIELs in Ohio-check out RIAL in NJ or Va. Then of course there are the ROYALs, RYALLs, and RYALs.
