Dear Barbara:

I am delighted to see you are working on Isaac Rial[l]. My own line, Riall (spelled with two l's, as apparently Isaac's was too), stems from Virginia in the late 1700's, which I take to be the Ohio Valley of West Virginia. I have evidence of Rialls settled in Wood Co. (W)Va. in the 1860's (i.e. Parkersburg). They then show up in Adair Co. Ky in the 1820's, where I begin to establish my line. Isaac's service in the Revolution in the NJ militia as a young man is followed by his resettlement as an old man on the Ohio River in Lawrence Co., Ohio, i.e. just across the river from Huntington (W)Va., a mere 50 or so miles down stream from the Parkersburg Rialls. Note evidence for this in the 1835 pension records. I am still looking for firm connections between my gggggrandfather James N. Riall of (West?)Virginia and Isaac, but the Ohio Valley home of Isaac makes me hopeful. Let me know more of what you have found.
