RYCHEN ANCESTORS; Christian Rich(e) b.1801

Need some clarification/verification from someone in the know. The background information goes like this:
I am a grandson of Lizzie(Elizabeth) Mae Rich (b.1886) Her father was Peter Rich (b.1839)and his father was Christian Rich (b. 1801). OK. About 30 years ago, my aunt received documents from a gentleman in France that was supposed to trace the family lineage back to Melchoir(or Melcher b. 1522) and his son Melchoir(or Melcher b. 1554-5). According to those documents, Christian's father was supposed to be a Peter Rychen(Rich, Riche)(b. 1775, d. 1837)who was married to Anna Muller.
I researched several genealogy sites, including this one, and several contributors of various related family genealogies. I DID NOT find any Peter Rychen with those b. & d. dates. There WAS an Anna Muller...and she DID marry a Peter Rychen. But he was b. 1768, not 1775. And they DID have a son named Christian, but he died as a child(b.1808-9, d. 1810)
The Christian Rich in my family, according to the b. date(1801), d. date, spouse, etc. has a Hans(or Johannes) Riche(Rychen) listed as his father (b. 1759)m. Madeleine(or Magdalene; Magdalena) Kauffman(n).
OK. Here is the dilema. According to the aforementioned documents, my line should be:
Melchoir Rychen(b.1522),
Melchoir "(b.1554-5),
Jakob "(b.1585),
Hans "(b.1611),
Peter "(b.1639),
Peter "(b.1679),
Hans " (Richen, Riche)(b.1757),
Daniel Riche (Rich)(b.abt.1740(?)),
Peter Rich(b.1775),
Christian Rich(b.1801).
NOTE: Another possible error is that Hans(b.1757)NEVER had a son named Daniel(that I could find, anyway).
I believe the conflict occurs back with Melchoir(Melcher)b.1554-5. According to records I could find, he had 4 sons...Melcher, Jakob, Hans, and Peter. I believe that Peter's line is the one I should be following. Tracing backwards from Christian, Peter, Daniel, etc., I can make the following COMPLETE connection:
Melchoir Rychen(b.1522)
Melchoir Rychen(b.1554-5)
Peter " (b.1593)
Martin " (b.1646)
Gilgen " (b.1669)
Gilgen " (b.1689)
Daniel " (Richen, Riche) (b.1720)
Hans Rich(Riche) (b.1759)
Christian Rich (b.1801)
I think the sources in France, somehow, combined parts of 2 different lines of families. Can anyone verify any of this information? I am specifically aiming at Christian(sometimes refered to as "Chris" or "Christ")Rich b.12/01/1801, m.11/11/1823 to Anna Konrad(Conrad) b.11/04/1801, and his direct ancestors. Any help would be greatly appreciated
