A lawsuit says that John Richeson/Richardson/Richerson who died by 1798, had widow Mary and six living children at the time of John's death:
Jesse, John, Mary (Mrs. James Turner), and "infants" (not of lawful age) Elizabeth, Patsy, and Thomas.Jessee was their "next friend" in the lawsuit.
A deponent said that at his death John had real estate valued at $1500-2000 pounds and 16 or 17 slaves.
Depositions were taken in Caroline Co, including Elliot Richerson, and in Amherst County.
The lawsuit was about Mary the dtr's share of the estate.
You can see images of the actual document of the case at the Library of Virginia website, go to Chancery Records, Caroline County, and down under surnames use "starts with" and type "Riche."(that's the way I found it anyway).
Was John from Caroline County?I think so.
Love to compare notes,
Phyllis
