Riddick/Irving Dumfries Scotland
Hi,
I am a descendent of Robert Cameron Riddick-Irving who came to the USA around the late 1800's. His father was George Samuel Riddick-Irving married to Catherine Charlotte Cameron in Middlesex England. George was the son of John Irving and Ann Riddick. Anne was the daughter of George Riddick, Laird of Dumfries and they lived at Greenloch Hall Dumfries Scotland. We are not sure about Anne's fathers name. The story goes that Anne married beneath her and that her name was taken from the family bible. John Irving was suppose to be a sheep herder on the estate of her father. John and Anne were sent to America and the baby George was raised by Anne's father until of age. He later married Catherine and they had at least 5 children; Samuel R., Robert Cameron, Kathrine, Agnes, and Jane. When they came to America they were required to drop the name Riddick. They lived in Lincoln Illnois area.
If anyone has any information about this line, I would love to hear from you. My email is [email protected]
