My husband's great great grandmother was Marjorie (Margery/Margerie)Rideout, b. abt. 1835 in Peel, Carleton, NB. She married Mark Alexander.
In "Rideouts in America" by Golda Rideout Soffe, on p. 96 Marjorie and Hosea (b. 1838, d. 1911) are listed as the 2 youngest children of Hannah Rideout and Thomas Rideout (a New Brunswick family). The other siblings listed are Olive, Rebecca, Harriet Ann, Stephen Wesley and Etty. The youngest of these older children, Etty, is 10 years older than Marjorie.
In the 1851 New Brunswick, Carleton Co., Brighton Parish census I found this listing:
Thomas Rideout, head, 59, native, farmer
Hannah, his wife, 56
Margerie, daughter, 16
Hosea, son, 13, blind
As far as I know, but this still has to be researched, Marjorie (Rideout) Alexander and her husband Mark Alexander didn't go to Boston. Their daughter, Statira (Alexander) Mills did emigrate to Boston with her husband Marshall Edward Mills.
Is this possibly your Hosea? I go to the Mass Archives on occasion and can look up to see if a Hosea Rideout died in Massachusetts in 1911 or there abouts.
I would be interested in any information you may have on this family.
