I have a Stephen Rideout, who was born to Nicholas Rideout and Mary Hung Ingersoll. I don't have any particulars on Stephens' birth, but I do know that according to the Soffe book, Rideouts in America, it is said that Stephen Was a soldier in the Revolution from May 3, 1776 to Aug 13, 1776. He enlisted at Brunswick in 1778. He saw service at Valley Forge. He was a private with Captian Curtis' Co. stationed at Falmouth for defense of the seacoast. Then he entered the service again July 9, 1779 and was on the Penobscot Expedition. He received a pension for a number of years. When he was 20, he married a Abigail Smart, in Kennebunkport, ME (She was born abt 1764 in Kennebunkport). She died at the age of 41 in Brunswick, ME in 1805. I'm not sure this is your Stephen, but the ages seem to be in sync. I'd guess he would have remarried, are you sure of the name of his other wife?
