My grandmother was Ada La Mesurier. She was born on the island of Gurnsey off the coast of France and brought to Newfoundland to St. Johns when she was just a child. She married James Rideout of Harbor le Cou, Newfoundland July 5, 1889. They moved to the Codroy Valley with brother Job Rideout, lost everything they had, moved back to Rose Blanche and then to British Columbia. Someone told me in Newfoundland last summer, "That's just a Newfie looking for work!", and that is exactly what that move was all about. Is my Ada and yours one and the same?
