Hi Tommy,

My great, great, great grandfather was David Rideout of Greensville County, Va and one of his brothers was Benjamin B. Rideout. They served together in the War of 1812, but in different regiments. They are believed to be the sons of John and Mable Ridout (Rideout) of Brunswick County, Va. Mable's last name is unknown, but she is listed with John in several land records. John is believed to be the son of Giles and Frances Ridout (Rideout) of York County, Va. John was probably born around the late 1740's in York County, a few years before his parents moved west to Brunswick County. Giles died around 1751 and Frances remarried a Joseph Kennon in Brunswick County in 1752. Giles is believed to be an English immigrant and he and Frances owned 10 acres out on Back Creek in York County. He farmed and tutored orphans.

Are you related? If so, through whom do you descend?

Regards,
Dave Ridout
