I found this on Rootsweb . com
http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=rideout1&id=I1842
This appears to be your family but again there seems to conflicting information. Some of the IGI records show your Charles parents to be Jacob Rideout and Jane Allen, and that Jacob Rideout is the son of Jacob Rideout and Eunice Leach.
One gives the marriage date of Jacob and Jane as Jan. 3, 1825 in Bowdoinham, Sagadahoc Co., ME. This couple was having children up until at least 1845 together so my Sophronia's brother Jacob who is probably the one listed in the Brunswick, ME VR's that married Susan RANSOM in 1829 could not be your Jacob's 2nd wife.
So it appears you line is Charles > Jacob > Stephen > Nicholas RIDEOUT.
Mine is Sophronia > Jacob > Benjamin > Nicholas RIDEOUT.
So Nicholas may be our common ancestor.

I hope all of this has not confused you too badly.
Just print it all out and chew on it for a while, and eventually the dust will settle and you can hopefully digest it and make heads or tails of it all. (grin)
Good Luck to you and I hope this was somehow helpful to you.
