I'm very new to this forum and maybe that's a good thing. I come from the New Brunswick Rideouts. My grandfather died in 1964 as a Member of Parliament representing Moncton. I happen to be working on a litigation case that required some research into HANSARD, the records of the Canadian House of Commons. If anyone is interested you can look him up at the follwing web address:
My grandmother ran for parliament after his death and she is listed at the following web address:
The other notable Rideout from our family is George Saunders Rideout who also was mayor of Moncton, NB and then MP but more recently. His web info can be found at the following address:
I am very curious if any of you would be able to help me trace the Rideouts farther back. I know my great grandfather Rideout was chief of police in Moncton, NB around 1900-1920 (prohibition era). I have a photograph of him pouring out Brandy. Not exactly my favorite activity but it is certainly a treasured photo. My father, David, has told me how Sherwood Hayes Rideout got his name. I will wait for a future post to fill everyone in.
I know my uncle Robert Rideout, now a lawyer in Moncton, has been actively tracing the family history. I've grown up in Ottawa, ON and have not been privy to alot of information. I hope someone out there finds this information useful.
Much love to all long lost family members!
Michael Craig Rideout,
Ottawa, ON Canada
