There is more evidence that Nicholas was the son of Abraham rather than any other connection. One good reference is the Biographical Review Pub. Co. 1896, 704 pages. It contains the biography of Silas M Rideout of Cumberland ME 1807-1896 who was in his day a well known carriage maker. He states that Reuben Rideout 1775-1838 was his father who married Priscilla Merrill and that Reuben was the son of William Rideout 1733-1799 who married Mary Blackstone and that William was his first ancestor to settle in Cumberland ME. He states that his grandfather William was the son of Nicholas Rideout and that Nicholas was the son of Abraham.
