Ridlin originally, probably comes from the name of Redland. At least thats where Ridlon comes from. Reseach Ridlon, most originate from the New England area (Maine)and was changed from Redland to Ridlon in the late 1600's by Magnus Ridlon...father was Thomas Redland. Hope that helps you get started. Try Ancestry.com as it has many Ridlon's listed.
