I have a financial ledger an diary. I have been able to trace to a son of Thomas RIDOUT born at Sherborne, Dorsetshire, England on March 17th 1754. Thomas emmigrated to Maryland at age 20 and spent the years of the American Revolution trading in sugar and tobacco with the British Colonies in the West Indies.
He was captured by Indians on the Ohio River in 1787.
He married Mary CAMPBELL, the daughter of an United Empire Loyalist, in 1789 and settled at the Bay of Quinte (Kingston, Ontario, Canada. In 1810 Thomas was appointed The Surveyor General of Ontario. He died in or near Toronto Canada in Feb 1829.
I am trying to link the KILDUFF/KELLY family to the RIDOUTS
My aunt, a KILDUFF from Kingston, Ontario maintained that this ledger belonged to a relative. Her mother was a KELLY from Kingston. She is now deceased and nobody in the family can assist. The information in the ledger confirms it was the property of an unknown son of Thomas RIDOUT
