I am looking for info/descendants of Charles W. Riecks, 16 Court St., Brooklyn. This was his address from 1870 to 1890 that I know of. I have a copy of a letter that he wrote to his brother's son-in-law in Oct.1890, so he was alive then. I have found him in the 1870 census under the name of Charles William Rieckes (but have unable to find him in the 1860 or the 1880 census under that name),and the 1888, 1889 Brooklyn city directory under the name of Charles W. Riecks. There was also a son listed (Charles,Jr.)in the directory. His real name was Carsten Wilihm Riecke, b.1819, Oldenburg, Germany. I am descended from his brother, Johann Henrick Riecke, b. 1818, Oldenburg, Germany. Henry came to New Orleans, LA in 1838 and died there August 27, 1890. He left 7 children and numerous grandchildren. The family has stayed in the New Orleans area. If anyone has any leads please let me know - Thanks, Karen Riecke, Covington, LA.
