Kim: Sorry, I don't know much. My ggf Samuel Rieck came to US ~1857 and was killed in an accident ~1866. Not much information about him has been preserved. For many years we believed that he came alone, but several other 19th-centuryRiecks have been turning up. Three facts about him:

1. Prussian, possibly came from Posen which is now part of Poland (since WWII) but was then part of Prussia.
2. Settled in Library, Pennsylvania, now a suburb of Pittsburgh.
3. Married Wilhelmina Mollenauer.
4. Served in Union Army.

I would be happy to learn of any other Riecks who might be connected to him in any way.

Do you prounounce it "rick" (as I do), "reek", or "rike". I think "rick' is the Prussian way.

=Carl Rieck
