Bill: I am a direct descendant of the Michael Rieger and Monica (unknown) family. They were my gggrandparents. Family legend is that they came from Baden Baden, Germany. My geography is not too great. I believe this to be a town in Baden but do not know if Baden is near Wuertemberg.
This is one of my most interesting families because Monica gave birth to twin girls on the voyage to America!!! They both lived to maturity and married. I believe they arrived in the USA in 1848 as they appear on the l850 census. They lived in Western St. Louis County MO. This area is now known as Wildwood, MO.
