here is a story that was passed down.........please read and help me with this line: (thanks Angela)
Quoted straight out of the notes passed down from one cousin to another:
"Our gg grandfather, Edward Albert Rife, was born in Pennsylvania. My father and his brothers always referred to him as Edward Albert but there is a possibality that it could have been Abraham or James Albert. All Uncle Henry had on this was Edward. Im sure there were sisters and brothers and cousins. Some of the Rifes fought in the American Revolution. Albert grew up and settled near Whelling W. Virginia. he married twice. His first wife
was a Colyer and had seven or eight kids and his second wife was a Fordson and had 8 kids by her. It has been said that he married a wealthy land owner or plantation owners daughter. They were supposed to have had 1200 slaves.
Im not sure about this either. There are records that show a Jacob Rife fought at Vincinns Indiana with George Rodger ---- and then settled around Clarksberg W. Virginia.
James Madison Rife is the son of Edward Ablert Rife. Edward Albert is supposed to be buried in Clay County Illinois and has a large tombstone and left a large estate to his children of his first marriage.
When James Madison was about 4 years of age, the family moved to Salem Indiana and bought property. In later years they moved to Clay County Illnois near Salem Illinois. "
I have found so many different Abrahams in the census and other forms of searches and can not fin a one that would be ours.........does anyone have a clue?
